Community Development Society has organized an Exposure Visit at THANGCHING Herbals Farm, located in Singngat village on 8th December 2020. The exposure visit was organized under TDF-THEIHUAN Project which is supported by National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) under Tribal Development Fund (TDF). The exposure team were facilitated by Mr. S. Ginsuan Ngaihte, Project Coordinator, TDF-THEIHUAN along with 4 staff of CDS and was attended by 24 selected beneficiaries from the project villages.
The visited THANGCHING Farm has a variety of orchards and herbals farming with its major cultivation consisting of Organge (Valencia variety) and Lemon Grass. The team held an interactive discussion with the Caretaker of the Farm, with an in-depth discussion and observation on the processes of Orange farming and its upkeep. The Farm also has a unit of Vermicompost where the farm workers have produce organic manures for the farm land. The exposure team have also had an interaction on the process of Vermicompost making and observe its practical demonstration.
The team have observed that Orange (Valencia) is well suited with the soil of Churachandpur District and were immensely reassured on their engagement in Orange farming.
