NATURAL RESOURCE MANAGEMENT GROUP
The Natural Resource Management Group (NaRM-G) is a crucial component of the North Eastern Region Community Resource Management Project (NERCORMP). NaRM-G is a village-level body that plays a significant role in the sustainable development and management of natural resources within tribal communities in the northeast region of India.
Role of NaRM-G:
Sustainable Resource Utilization:
The primary function of NaRM-G is to promote the sustainable use of natural resources available in the region. This includes forests, water bodies, land, and other resources that are vital for the livelihoods of tribal communities.
Community Empowerment:
NaRM-G empowers villagers by involving them in decision-making processes related to resource management. By actively engaging community members, NaRM-G ensures that local knowledge and practices are integrated into resource utilization strategies.
Economic Development:
The group focuses on developing the local economy by utilizing natural resources efficiently. This can involve activities such as promoting eco-friendly livelihood options, enhancing agricultural practices, and exploring income-generating opportunities within the community.
Environmental Conservation:
NaRM-G also plays a key role in biodiversity conservation and environmental protection. By adopting sustainable practices, the group contributes to preserving the unique ecological balance of the region.
Capacity Building:
Through training and capacity-building initiatives, NaRM-G equips community members with the necessary skills and knowledge to manage resources effectively. This empowers them to take charge of their economic and environmental well-being.
Collaboration:
NaRM-G collaborates with other stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and local institutions, to leverage resources and expertise for holistic development outcomes.
